Editorial Team

Editor-In-Chief: The Editor-In-Chief is in charge of overseeing and managing the entirety of
the team and deadlines. The role is responsible for looking after all visual elements the magazine
produces, general production details, curating submissions as well as organizing events. The
Editor-In-Chief oversees all of the production team including Art Director, Managing Editor,
Genre Editors and Content Creators. This position requires someone who can successfully
manage many projects, is organized, and has the ability to make executive decisions to maintain
the RADmag brand. We are looking for someone with strong leadership skills, resilient work
ethic, is a team motivator and a strong aptitude in design. Minimum 10 hours a week.

Art Director: This role requires a keen eye for excellent design and aesthetics on layouts in particular. The art director works closely with the Editor-in-Chief and Publisher and is a key component of producing the magazine biannually. Requirements include ability to delegate, manage a team of graphic designers, ability to articulate clear instructions and vision, experience in InDesign and layout design. Knowledge of and passion for typography and press production is an asset. This role is suited for someone who is willing to learn, can handle hard deadlines as well as create and manage print and digital deliverables. This role requires work and time commitment, especially around magazine production time, but is extremely rewarding.

Interior Design Editor: We are looking for an energetic and highly-motivated student who has
an interest in interior design and can share their knowledge of this discipline with other members
of our creative team. We are looking for someone to use our resources that we offer to represent
the faculty of interior design. You will be in-charge of scouting students in your interior
design program and help to curate pieces that will fit the RADmag brand for our bi-annual
magazine. Some of your other duties may be set designing for in-house editorial shoots, helping
with blog posts on our websites, working on floor plans for upcoming launch events and most
importantly, sharing your ideas with the rest of the team. An interest in Fashion, Photography and
possibly writing would be a great asset to have while being a part of a team full of creatives.

Content Creator (Fashion): Content Creators are responsible for producing interesting,
interactive and thought-provoking pieces for RADmag’s online platform, RADmag.ca.
Individuals should be prepared to pitch ideas and execute projects in a timely manner to further
engage our online community. We are looking for individuals who are well versed in the fashion
scene within the Ryerson community and/or outside of it. Members will work closely with the
Managing Editor and be should available to attend content meetings. Strong writing skills are an
asset. Expected 5-8 hours per week.

Content Creator (Interior Design): Content Creators are responsible for producing interesting,
interactive and thought-provoking pieces for RADmag’s online platform, RADmag.ca.
Individuals should be prepared to pitch ideas and execute projects in a timely manner to further
engage our online community. We are looking individuals who are well versed in the art of
Interior Design within the Ryerson community and/or outside of it. Members will work closely
with the Managing Editor and be should available to attend content meetings. Strong writing
skills are an asset. Expected 5-8 hours per week.

Content Creator (Photography): Content Creators are responsible for producing interesting,
interactive and thought-provoking pieces for RADmag’s online platform RADmag.ca.
Individuals should be prepared to pitch ideas and execute projects in a timely manner to further
engage our online community. We are looking individuals who are well versed in the art of
photography within the Ryerson community and/or outside of it. Members will work closely
with the Managing Editor and be should available to attend content meetings. Strong writing
skills are an asset. Expected 5-8 hours per week.

Copy Editor: The copy editor is responsible for the editing process of all written content, including the RADmag issues and blog posts. They are responsible for fixing any grammatical, punctuation and spelling errors. They also double check that names, places, and organizations are spelled properly and that facts, dates, and statistics are accurate. This position works closely with the other editors to ensure success for RADmag. We are looking for an individual who possesses strong writing skills and an eye for detail. 

 

Admin Team

Distribution Manager: The role of Distribution Manager includes working with and developing the magazine’s stockists across the city of Toronto. The candidate will restock and deliver new issues twice a year, as well as collect funds and negotiate contracts with these partners. This position requires excellent communication skills in order to maintain a good working relationship with the stockists and other partners of the magazine. In addition, the Distribution Manager is responsible for organizing inventory and maintaining stock control. Candidate must be motivated and independent. Expected 5-8 hours per week*.

Marketing & Events Manager: The Marketing and Events Manager takes the lead on the operations and logistics surrounding our events. Events include two issue launches per year, tables around campus, and/or any other events created by the team. The Marketing & Events Manager will take the lead on securing venues, on site operations, and executing marketing tactics. This requires excellent time management and organizational skills to ensure deadlines are met. Candidate must be motivated and a team player as they will work closely with various branches of our team such as Social Media, Graphic Designers, Management, etc. In addition, the Marketing and Events Manager must be comfortable with creating budgets, operating money, and working with inventory. Expected 5-8 per week.

Marketing & Events Assistant: The role of the Marketing & Events Assistant is to support in organizing the operations and logistics surrounding our events. Events include two issue launches per year, tables around campus, and/or any other events created by the team. This requires excellent time management and organizational skills to ensure deadlines are met. Candidate must be motivated and a team player as they will work closely with various branches of our team. The Marketing & Events Assistant will work with the Sponsorship Manager to seek partnerships and sponsors. This requires strong communication skills, as the candidate will be expected to reach out externally.  In addition, the Marketing and Events Manager Assistants must be comfortable with working with the Manager on creating budgets, operating money, and working with inventory. Expected 4-7 per week

Administrative Assistant: The Administrative Assistant provides organizational support to the Publisher. Tasks include, but are not limited to, setting up team meetings, facilitating inter-team communication, updating and logging magazine inventory, and selling merchandise. The Administrative Assistant also assists the Marketing & Events team with the set-up and takedown of launches. This role requires excellent organizational and communication skills as well as proactiveness and ability to jump in. The candidate must also be comfortable with using spreadsheets and email communication.
